Concept Demo — fictional business

Back to OakBound Media

One roof, built one way.

Ridgeline focuses on standing seam metal — installation, replacement, and the material decisions in between. Doing one system well is the whole business.

Standing Seam Metal Roof Installation

Standing seam is the roof we build most. Panels run from eave to ridge in one piece, with the fasteners hidden underneath the seam — no exposed screws on the roof field. Because we form each panel to your roof's exact lengths, there are no horizontal laps mid-slope, which is where most roof problems start.

What's included

  • Full roof measurement and on-site panel fabrication
  • Decking inspection before any new material goes on
  • High-temp underlayment and full flashing package
  • Custom ridge caps, eave trim, and valley metal
  • Site protection and daily cleanup

Metal Re-Roofing & Replacement

Most of our work is replacing asphalt shingle roofs that are at or near the end of their service life. We tear off the old roof, inspect the decking, repair anything soft or damaged, and then install a standing seam system designed for the next several decades — not the next shingle cycle.

What's included

  • Complete tear-off and disposal of the old roof
  • Written decking findings — with photos — before repair
  • Replacement of worn flashing, boots, and trim
  • Standing seam panels formed to the new roof layout
  • Gutter and fascia check at the eaves

Design & Material Consultation

A standing seam roof is a 40-year decision, so the details matter. We walk the roof with you, talk through panel profile and gauge options, put real color samples next to your siding and trim, and explain how each choice affects cost and appearance. You leave with a written estimate — no pressure and no expiring discounts.

What's included

  • Walk-the-roof condition review
  • Panel profile, gauge, and finish comparison
  • Color samples against your existing siding and trim
  • Plain-language explanation of what drives the price
  • Written line-item estimate

Questions we hear most.

How long does a standing seam metal roof last?+

Standing seam steel panels are commonly rated for 40 years or more, depending on the panel and finish. We'll talk through expected service life for the specific material you choose — in plain terms, most homeowners install one metal roof and don't think about roofing again.

Is a metal roof loud when it rains?+

Not from inside the house. Standing seam panels are installed over solid decking and a full underlayment, so rain noise is comparable to an asphalt shingle roof. The 'barn roof' sound only happens when metal is fastened to open purlins without decking.

How does the cost compare to asphalt shingles?+

The upfront cost is higher — typically several times a shingle roof. Over the life of the roof, though, you replace shingles two or three times in the same period a metal roof stays in place. We'll put both numbers side by side in your estimate.

Can you install metal over my existing shingles?+

Usually no, and we don't recommend it. Covering old shingles hides decking problems and traps moisture. We tear off to the deck, inspect and repair it, then build the new roof on a clean surface.

What colors and finishes are available?+

Standing seam comes in a wide range of colors and matte or low-gloss finishes. During your consultation we bring physical samples so you can see the color against your actual siding and trim — not a brochure photo.

Do metal roofs attract lightning?+

No. Metal roofing doesn't make a strike more likely — lightning targets the tallest point in an area regardless of material. A metal roof also doesn't add fire risk; steel is non-combustible.

How does a metal roof handle snow and ice?+

Metal sheds snow more readily than shingle, which is good for the roof but worth planning for above doorways and walkways. If your roof has those exposures, we'll include snow guards in the design so slides happen gradually.
